Editor In Chief Greetings journalists, “Journalism can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and greatest fault. It must speak, and speak immediately, while the echoes of wonder, the claims of triumph and the signs of horror are still in air.” - Henry Anatole Grunwald Welcome to the International Press Corps of DXBMUN’17. I am Parvathi Sreeraj, the president of IPC. To brief you about myself, I am a keen writer, who bags every opportunity, when it comes to writing. Having contributed to various readers’ columns of The Gulf News numerous times over the span of 3 years, journalism has always been close to my heart. I have been to 5 MUN conferences till date. I am also a voracious reader, and a reporter of the school magazine, The Light House. Talking about journalism, it is the art of molding news, of importance in such a way, that people would want to read it. Journalism has the power of changing minds. For DXBMUN’17, the International Press Corps will be upholding the editorial policies of fifteen news agencies namely; Reuters, Gulf News, Khaleej Times, The Hindu, Xinhua News Agency, AP, SANA, TASS, APP, Al Jazeera, BBC, The Guardian, CNN, New York Times and The Times of India. As the President of IPC, I expect all the journalists to uphold the policies of the allotted agencies, by going through their writing styles and stances taken on matters of global importance. It is mandatory for all the journalists to research on the committee agendas put forth by IHSMUN’17, with respect to your respective agencies. As journalists, you will be required of to cover a variety of stories in the form of interviews, articles, op-eds, humour columns, and regular inputs to the conference newsletter. Not to mention, plagiarism is strictly prohibited, and any act of plagiarism will be dealt seriously. Also note that the IPC respects individual pieces, thus collaborative writing will be nullified. I require your commitment and sincere cooperation to make our committee the most proactive and productive one during the three day conference. Let learn, and make a lot of memories together. Awaiting all my journalists! Parvathi Sreeraj President The International Press Corps DXBMUN’17 |
